The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology has had a significant impact on the world of education, particularly in supporting the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. This study aims to describe the experiences of teachers at SMP Negeri 4 Painan in using AI for lesson planning and to analyze its impact on time efficiency. This study employs a descriptive quantitative method using a Likert scale questionnaire consisting of 20 statements and follow-up interviews. A total of 20 teachers who have used AI in lesson planning served as research respondents. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to determine the average score for each indicator, supplemented by thematic analysis of interview results. The results showed that teachers had positive experiences with AI use, as indicated by the average scores for the experience indicator (89.00%), time efficiency (83.00%), and acceptance of AI (83.71%), with an overall summary of respondents' statements (85.35%) meeting the ―Very Satisfied‖ criterion. In-depth interviews revealed that AI helps teachers in preparing lesson plans, providing teaching materials, and saving time in lesson preparation. However, challenges faced include limitations in technological infrastructure and the need for further training.
