PEMAHAMAN SISWA KELAS VIII DALAM MENGGUNAKAN CHROMEBOOK UNTUK PEMBELAJARAN INFORMATIKA DI UPT SMP NEGERI 4 PAINAN

The rapid development of technology has encouraged transformation in the field of education, including the use of digital devices such as Chromebooks in the learning process. UPT SMP Negeri 4 Painan is one of the schools that has utilized Chromebooks as the main medium in informatics learning. However, based on initial observations, it was found that many students have not fully understood how to use this device. This study aims to describe the level of understanding of Grade VIII students in using Chromebooks, identify the factors that influence it, and reveal the challenges faced by students during the informatics learning process. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The results of the study show that students’ understanding of Chromebook usage varies, with most students still experiencing difficulties in operating certain features, especially those related to the use of cloud-based applications. The main obstacles identified include limited internet connectivity and differences between the Chromebook interface and other devices. The conclusion of this study is that the use of Chromebooks in informatics learning has great potential, but it needs to be accompanied by training so that students’ understanding can improve optimally.
